Mr. Richardson was the oldest of eight children born to Thomas C. and Nancy S. Willis Richardson. He was a retired farmer, a former Justice of the Peace, one of the founders and charter members of the REA, and a charter member and deacon of the Boeuf River Baptist Church. He was a member of the New Hope Lodge No. 328 F&AM, McGuire Chapter of Royal Arch Masons, and held a rank of Master Sgt. in the Home Guard during WWII.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Annie M. Anders Richardson; one daughter, Roxie Turnage; his parents, three brothers, and one sister.

He was survived by four sons, Thomas N. Richardson and Curtis E. Richardson, both of Houston, TX, J. E. "Jiggs" Richardson, Jr. of Winnsboro, and James J. Richardson of Baton Rouge; two daughters, Thelma Wall of Winnsboro and Artie McDonald of Zachary; one brother, Dudley Lafayette Richardson of New Orleans; two sisters, Ceree Slaughter of Monroe, and Idella Smith of Jena; 11 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
