Archibald was the 5th and last child born to Archibald Brewer Sr and Sarah Mims Brewer.
In 1854 he married Sarah Emily Pittman. They had four children:

Lucy Brewer 1858 –
Nancy Brewer 1860 –
Archie Ann Brewer 1861 – 1920

Archibald died from typhoid fever in August 1862 at the Gordonsville army hospital in Virginia.
