Conrad Jacob Frick, 82, of 315 North High street, died at St. Elizabeth's Hospital at 10:10 o'clock last night after he had been found lying unconscious at the bottom of stairs in the cellar at midnight Thursday.

At first it was believed that Mr. Frick had fractured his skull in the fall but physicians today declared that the aged man had suffered a stroke and had fallen to the basement while unconscious.

Mr. Frick, a retired paperhanger and painter, was found in an unconscious condition by his son, Edward Frick, with whom he resided. It is feared the aged man fell down the steps at 9 o'clock and lay there for three hours without medical attention.

Mr. Frick was born in St. Clair County, September 10, 1845. He was a son of the late Conrad and Phoebe Gerlach. He was united in marriage with the former Miss Eulile Pigeon [daughter of Hyacinth & Maryann Pigeon] at St. Louis, October 20, 1873. His wife died several years ago.

Surviving are six children:

William H. Frick, St. Louis
Edward A. Frick, Belleville
Benjamin F. Frick, St. Louis
Frank W. Frick, Belleville
[Laura] Mrs. Arthur Wagner, St. Louis
Walter A. Frick, Belleville

Also surviving are one brother and two sisters:

Henry Frick, Belleville
[Margaret] Mrs. Minnie Blumenthal, St. Louis
Mrs. Lulu Pigeon, wife of Wm., Wichita, Kansas

... 19 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday from the Gundlach & Company Chapel to Walnut Hill Cemetery.
