Leatha (Dot) Johnston, 82, Longtime Rancher
GRANGEVILLE: Leatha (Dot) Johnston, a longtime Salmon River area rancher, died Saturday at the Grangeville Care Center of causes related to age. She was 82. She was born April 11, 1912, to Joseph L. and Katherine Ann Anderson Meek. She attended school at Fletcher, Idaho, and Craigmont, and graduated from Craigmont High School. She married Oswald Johnston May 12, 1931, at Spokane. They ranched for more than 60 years in the Westlake and Salmon River area. He died May 28, 1986.

She was an active member of the United Church and ladies organizations. She was a member of the Lewis County Historical Society and was a past president, secretary, and treasurer of the Fletcher Cemetery Board. She was also a director of the Morrowtown Cemetery, and served on the Westlake School Board. She is survived by her daughter, Allie Lee Bly of Westlake, Idaho; her twin sister Lela Jackson of Ardenvoir, Wash.; four grandchildren, one step-grandchild, and six great-grandchildren. Four brothers and a sister died previously.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the United Church in Craigmont. Rev. Bill Eaton will officiate. Burial will follow at the Morrowtown Cemetery. The family suggests memorials may be made to the Craigmont Quick Response Unit. Uhlorn Funeral Home of Cottonwood is in charge of arrangements
