Janet Darlene Backsen, 51, of Clive, and formerly of Eldora, died Sunday, Sept. 11, at her home.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Ivester Church of the Brethren, Eldora, with the Revs. Damon and Sue Wagner Fields officiating. Burial will be in Sheller Cemetery, Eldora. Visitation will be from noon until service time Friday at the church. Memorials may be directed to Ivester Church of the Brethren. Collins Funeral Home, Winterest, is in charge of arrangements.
She was born Oct. 4, 1942, in Eldora to Harvey Wesley and Velda Sisson Freed. She was an artist and was a member of Ivester Church of the Brethren. She had lived in Des Moines 12 years after moving there from Houston.
Survivors include her mother, Velda Freed of Winterset; two brothers, Larry Freed of Winterset and LaVerne Freed of Carrollton, Texas; and a sister, Elaine Monaghan of Des Moines.
She was preceded in death by her father.
