Dr. Hubert D. Thomson, 86, of Lubbock, died Saturday afternoon at his home after a lengthy illness.
Thomson was born in Crowell and graduated from Clarendon College and West Texas State University. He received a doctorate from McMurry College in Abilene. He entered the Methodist ministry in 1926 and served for more than 40 years with churches at Wildorado, Tolbert Circuit, 10th Street Methodist Church and San Jacinto Methodist Church, both in Amarillo, Wellington, Canyon and Abilene.
He was Abilene District Superintendent and was with First United Methodist Church at Borger when he retired. He then was associated with the Ed Robb Evangelistic Association for four years.
He married Carmen Mathis September 25, 1920 in Floydada. She died in 1983. He married Betty Laughlin March 17, 1984 in Lubbock.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, a stepson, two daughters, a stepdaughter, a brother; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
