Daughter of John Mack and Margaret Dale. Born in Longformacus, Berwick, East Lothian, Scotland. Sister of Peter, Margaret, John, Alexander and Janet Married Hugh Bertram in Direlton in May 1835. Hugh was the farm stewart of a model farm called Fenton Barns near Dirleton, run by famed Scottish agriculturalist George Hope. Mother of 10, including John, Anne, Alexander, Isabella, Hugh, George, Agnes, Peter, Helen and Charlotte, all born between 1837 and 1860. Lost only the baby, Charlotte in childhood. Oldest son left for Canada in 1860, followed by other family members. Hugh and Isabella came as well in the 1870's. Lived in Peterborough, Ontario. Two of their sons were Canadian Members of Parliament.
