Walter Lee, son of Florence (Ross) and Ray Meharg was born September 12, 1926 in Fairfield Township in Russell County, Kansas. He passed away March 9, 2014 in Alva, Oklahoma at Beadles Nursing Home at the age of 87 years, 9 months and 25 He was a proud member of the United States Army serving during WWII in the K-9 Corp. During this time he acquired a lifelong love for dogs eventually becoming a 4H dog training instructor.
On March 23, 1944 Walter married Ruth Caps in Bunker Hill, Kansas. To their marriage three children, Marsha, Randy and Connie were born.
Following their marriage they made their home in Hoisington, Kansas where he was a Police Officer and retired as a contract pumper in the oil field.
He was an active member of the American Legion Post 286 where he served as Post Commander and was a proud member of the Masonic Lodge.

Walter was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth, his parents, Ray & Florence Meharg, two brothers, Wendell & Glen and a great-grandson, Dustin Smith.
He is survived by his children and their families; Connie Meharg, of Denver, CO, Marsha and John Hendrix, of Alva, OK, and Randy Meharg , of Flower Mound, TX five grandchildren, six great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren, two step grandchildren and four step great-grandchildren.
