James E. "Jimmie" Adams, 87, Cadiz, died at 6:15 a.m. Saturday, March 8, 2014, at his home of natural causes.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Goodwin Funeral Home, Cadiz, with the Rev. James Shuck and Perry Alexander officiating.
Burial will be at Siloam Cemetery, Cadiz.
Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
A native of Trigg County, he was born Sept. 25, 1926, the son of the late Maurice Leon and Georgia Cook Adams.
He had worked in construction, building log homes and barns for local farmers. He also farmed in the Siloam community in Trigg County. He was the WKDZ Trigg County Farmer of the Year and produced the grand champion ham at the 2012 Trigg County Country Ham Festival.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the World War II era.
He attended Siloam United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Opal Vanzant Adams; his son, James Adams Jr., Cadiz; his daughter, Debbie Houchins, Crofton; a brother, Donnie Adams, Princeton; his sister, Ruth Nichols, Princeton; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
