He was the son of John C. and Mary M. (Miller) Eickholt. On Sep 2, 1950, he married Olivia "Leafy" Berelsman, who survives in Ottoville.
Also surviving are five sons: Timothy (Beth), Richard (Becky) and Brian (Diane), all Ottoville, Patrick (Debra), Kalida, and Bruce (Amy), Ft. Jennings; five daughters: Karan (Kenneth) Maenle, Ft. Jennings, Tina (Thomas) Miller, Tipp City, Brenda (Cindy Johnson) Eickholt, Van Wert, and Janice Maag and Elaine (Butch) Calvelage, both Ottoville; a sister, Calista Miller, Landeck; a sister-in-law, Dolores Eickholt, Ottawa; and thirty-six grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren.
Deceased are three brothers: Ralph (Virginia), Vincent and Roman (Agnes/Margaret); two sisters: Katherine (Ralph) Altenburger and Agnes (Bill) Ulrich; a half-sister, Alvertice "Dolly" Friemoth; and a brother-in-law, Arnold Miller.
A life long farmer, he retired from Fruehauf and was a former Trustee for Monterey Township. He was an Army veteran of WWII where he was awarded a Purple Heart. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Ottoville, its Holy Name, the Ottoville Knights of Columbus, Ottoville VFW and Disabled American Veterans.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Ottoville, with Rev. Jerome Schetter officiating.
