Michael owned Lyons Grocery in Houston, Texas on the northwest corner of Conti and Hardy streets. He married Mary Elizabeth Browne, daughter of John T. Browne, former two-term Mayor of Houston. Michael and Elizabeth had 11 children before his sudden death in 1924.
His death certificate indicates he was buried at Holy Cross Cemetery. Michael was transferred later to join the rest of his family at Garden of Gethsemane of Forest Park Cemetery in Houston.
