Walter Hostetter Sr., 74, of York, died at 5:43 p.m. Thursday at Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of the late Alverta (Crone) Hos tetter.
The service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Emig Funeral Home, 47 N. Queen St., Dover. Burial will be in Dover Bethany Cemetery. Viewing will be 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Hostetter was born Sept. 1, 1925, in West Cornwall. He was the son of the late Paul and Ida M. (Spang) Hostetter.
He was a truck driver at C.C. Kott- camp in York, retiring in 1978 after 35 years of service. Following retirement, he was a maintenance supervisor at Howard Johnson's in York and was presently a courier for Vital Link in York. He was a member of Shiloh American Legion Post 791, Rooster Club, Girard Athletic Club, 13th Ward Political Club, Owls Club and Fraternal Order of Eagles, all in York, and Eastfork Sportsman Club in Potter County. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the Battle of the Bulge and receiving two Purple Hearts.
Mr. Hostetter is survived by three sons, Walter Hostetter Jr. and Frank Hostetter, both of York, and Wilson Hostetter of Manchester; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; a brother, Paul Hostetter of Shrewsbury; and a sister, Mary Wunderlich of Annville. Mr. Hostetter was preceded in death by a daughter, Judy A. Fetrow.
Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Rodney Richesson, pastor of Dover Bethany United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 2997 Cape Horn Road, Red Lion 17356.
