Georgia Eames Godard Andrews

Mrs. Georgia Andrews, a resident of Arkansas City, Kas. for 54 years, died at 3:30 a.m. Friday (Feb. 12, 1954) at Winfield, where she had been a patient several weeks after being dismissed from Memorial Hospital following treatment for a paralytic stroke. Her home is at 322 E. Washington Ave.

For many years she was prominent in women's and social affairs in Arkansas City. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and was for many years an active member and president of the Fortnightly Club.

She was a daughter of Charles A. and Maltina Bathrick Eames. She was born at Telford, Tenn., Dec. 27, 1958, where her father owned and operated a shoe factory which was destroyed during the War Between the States.

She came with her parents to Kansas in 1867 and lived on a farm two miles south of Whiting, Kas. She married Dr. Willis Godard at Holton, June 27, 1882. They had two children both of whom died in infancy. Dr. Godard died Aug. 31, 1891. On Oct. 11, 1900, she married John Andrews at Marion, Kas. He was a dealer in real estate until his death Aug. 7, 1913.

Her only survivors are 11 nieces and nephews: Mrs. Pearl Carder and Charles Eames, Whiting; Mrs. Dora Hickman, Holton, Kas.; Mrs. Edna Miller, Raymondville, Mo.; Mrs. Vera Hargis and Mrs. Hazel Chrisman, Clinton, Mo.; Harry Witt, Laddonia, Mo.; Harry Eames, Wellsville, Kas.; Mrs. Ruby Lappear, Arizona; Carl Eames, Topeka; George Eames, Atchison.

Memorial services will be Monday at 2 p.m., at the First Presbyterian Church in Arkansas City. Committal services will be at Whiting at 2 p.m. Tuesday, with burial beside her first husband.
