Jesse W. Flowers
Jesse W. Flowers, 61, of 222 S. Park Ave., died yesterday morning in St. Therese Hospital after a long illness.
Mr. Flowers was born Aug. 4, 1902, in Holiday, Tenn. He lived in Waukegan for 37 years. He was a member of the AF & AM of North Chicago. Mr. Flowers was a retired night supervisor of aides at Downey Veterans Hospital and a retired plant guard at Abbott Labratories. A son James died in 1955.
Mr. Flowers is survived by two daughters, Nancy of Los Angeles and Judith of North Chicago; two grandchildren; fives sisters, Mrs. Seab (Bevie) Hicks of Camden, Tenn., Mrs. Paul (Lena) Cannon of Nashville, Mrs. Martin (Ruth) Maurer of Waukegan, Mrs. A. J. (Georgia) Matheney of Waukegan, and Mrs. J. D. (Jessie) Allen of North Chicago; five brothers, Joseph of Camden, William of Jackson, Tenn., John B. of Columbus, Ohio, John E. of Alburquerque, N. M. and Sgt. Robert H., now stationed in Korea.
Masonic services will be held at 8 p. m. Thursday in the funeral home at 1521 Washington St. Services will be at 10:30 a. m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Cecil Dallas, pastor of Yorkhouse Methodist Church, officiating. Friends may call after 7 p. m. tomorrow.
NOTE: Jesse's birthplace is Holladay, Tennessee, not Holiday. Jesse had no brother named Joseph, he had a brother Grady Green Flowers who went by the nickname "Joe". He also had no brother named William, he had a brother Tillman who went by the nickname "Bill". Also his brother Robert's middle initial was R. (Ray) not H.
