Mr. Douglas F. Martin, age 88, of Eastman, died Monday, February 24, 2014 at his residence.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, February 27, at Hardy-Towns Chapel with Rev. Fred Parker and Rev. Adam Martin officiating. Interment will follow at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m.

Mr. Martin was a member and Deacon of Antioch Baptist Church #1. He was a faremer and retired from the U. S. Postal Service. He was a two time Dodge County Farmer of the Year and WWII Veteran, receiving a Purple Heart and Bronze Star. Mr. Martin was also a member of the Woodmen of the World.

He is survived by his wife, Florine Martin; children, Jan Parkerosn (Mike), Karen Rackley (Scott) of Macon, Marie Yawn (Tony), Charles Martin (Dorothy), Douglas F. Martin, Jr. (Sandra), Randy Martin (Maudie); sister, Ruby Nicholas; eleven grandchildren, Fess Pakerson, Caleb Parkerson, Jody Johnson, Shannon Giddens, Adam Martin, Kyle Rackley and Emily Rackley; thirteen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by brothers, Charlie Franklin Martin and Samuel Edward Martin.

Those serving as pallbearers are Craig Smith, Fess Parkerson, Caleb Parkerson, Kyle Rackley, Adam Martin and Jody Johnson.

Hardy-Towns Funeral Home of Eastman is in charge of the arrangements.
