Zina O'Neal was, I believe, a daughter of Kindred O'Neal (c.1785-1855) and his wife Culia Hayles (1790s-1840s), of Anson County, North Carolina. I can't prove it, but that is what I believe to the best of my knowledge.

Zina married (George?) Washington Nathaniel Hartsell (c. 1822-1855) around 1846. He was a son of Solomon Hartsell (1799-1872) and his wife Sarah Smith, of Stanly County, NC. Zina and Washington were living in Anson County, NC in 1850, near her father.

Zina and Washington had two daughters, Mary Elvina Hartsell (1848-1883, Mrs. James F. Bowers) and Sarah Ann Hartsell (c. 1851-c.1872, Mrs. Robert Atkinson). Washington died probably on 21 Oct. 1854. I do not know what happened to Zina after that. I can't find her on the 1860 or 1870 census, though I did find both her daughters, married, in 1870.

Zina may be buried here with her parents, or she may be buried at the Hartsell cemetery in Stanly County with her husband's family. I have linked her to a grave in her husband's family cemetery that I think may, possibly, be that of her husband, but please be aware, this is just guess work and nothing more.
