Mrs. Clemons was born July 3, 1923, to the late Emmitt and Adell Jones. Over the years she had worked at Sears, Otasco and Compass Bank. Opal and Gordon loved to travel and spend time in the Smoky Mountains. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be dearly missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon "Zeke" Clemons; grandson, Eric Clemons; in-laws, Corbin Sr. and Margaret Clemons; son-in-law, James O'Dell; and nephew, Chip Tidwell.
She is survived by her children, Nancy O'Dell, Gordon "Buddy" (Betty) Clemons, Tommy (Jamie) Clemons; grandchildren; Scott (Dawn) Carter, Stephen (Jennifer) Carter, Neil (Leslie) Clemons, Mark Clemons, Lynn (J.W. Jr.) Watson, Stacey (Sam) Kimmons, Cindy (Mike) Marrs, Rachel (Kevin) Horton, Mandi (Phil) Wofford; 16 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren; sister, Sue (Ralph) Tidwell; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
The family wishes to express a special thanks to Attalla Healthcare and Gentiva Hospice.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
