Samuel Hawkins and Annie Jackson gave birth to Daniel on June 7, 1928 in Alexandra Louisiana. At the age of 18, Daniel hopped on a train and came to California. Upon arriving he began working for the U.S. Steelmill. He then met and married to Laura Lee.
He loved life and enjoyed spending time on his house boat fishing and trips to Cache Creek. Daniel is member of the Warren McCree Elks Lodge #1285 and Magnolia Temple #943.
He is survived by his 3 daughters Lynda James, Katherine Hawkins and Sandra Jones. Also survived by his sisters Edith and Sarah and brother Rev. Joshua Hawkins. A host of great and great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and four children Gregory, Doreen, Anthony and Daniel Jr.
Family and friends are invited to a quiet hour Wednesday, November 20, 2013 from 5:00-7:00pm at the Pittsburg Funeral Chapel. Graveside services Thursday, November 21, 2013 1:30pm at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Concord.
