Death Takes Mrs. Baerwald
Mrs. Emelia W. Baerwald, 83, a well-known resident of Lodi for many years, passed away late Sunday night at the home of a daughter, Mrs Hertha West in Mill Valley.
The deceased, who made her home at 627 W. Locust st., was the widow of the late Frederick Baerwald. She was a native of Germany, where she was married, and came to Lodi about 35 years ago.
Mrs. Baerwald and her husband came to Lodi from North Dakota, where her husband farmed. In Lodi he operated a store on E. Locust st. for many years.
Mrs. Baerwald was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church.
She had been visiting her daughter in Mill Valley for about four weeks at the time of her death, which followed a long illness.
Mrs. Baerwald is survived by 11 children, including Mrs. West of Mill Valley, Mrs. Alma Nystrom, Mrs. Ella Peterson, Rosamond Boecher and Alfred Baerwald, all of Lodi; Mrs. Elfrieda Klebau of Portland, Ore.; Mrs. Martha Ide, Red Wing, Minn.; Mrs. Meta Klebaum of Yakima, Wash.; Mrs. Irene Zwick of Sacramento; Salem Baerwald of Stockton; and Erhard Baerwald of San Francisco. Also surviving are 21 grandchildren and 44 great grandchildren.
