Dominguez Rancho (Rancho San Pedro) was owned by Manuel Dominguez. He built the adobe in 1826 and Rancho San Pedro was passed down the family through his great uncle, Juan Jose Dominguez. Juan Jose, a Spanish soldier was granted Rancho San Pedro in 1784 from the Spanish.
The Battle of Dominguez Ranch was fought during Mexican-American War, and 5 sailors and one marine were buried in Deadman's Island in 1846 (an island near San Pedro Bay near Los Angeles. In 1899 bodies were disinterred and buried at Mare Island Naval Cemetery.
