Sidney Gorham Brock was the second of seven children born to Eleazer Albee Brock and Margaretta Platt. After graduating from Allegheny College, Sidney became a lawyer. Sidney served in the Union Army in the 67th Infantry Regiment Ohio. In 1861, Sidney and Louisa Olivia Williams were married. They raised three sons: "Will," Sidney and Ben.
