Harold Lee Berry, of Amarillo died Sunday, February 9, 2014, just a day before his 93rd birthday.
A family service will be at a later date. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.
His wife, Frances Sanders Berry, died this past summer, and he had been living at the VA Center since that time. He was born in Floydada, Texas and served in World War II and received a Purple Heart for his service in the Pacific. He worked at Cal Farley's Boy's Ranch as office manager, before starting his own business, Berry Concrete, which served Amarillo and vicinity for decades. He lived in the same house on Crockett Street for 57 years, where his three sons were raised.
He is survived by his sons, Charles and his wife Louise of Houston, Woody and his wife Jan of Lexington, KY, and Harold Layne of Houston; 5 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
The family expresses their thanks to all the doctors, nurses, social worker, and chaplain at the VA Center for their good and loving care of all our service men and women. We also thank the Jim and Todd Gray families for their help and support.
