Lloyd (Bud) Henderson, 79 of Bowling Green passed away February 9, 2014 at his home.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 14, 2014 at the Mudd-Veach Funeral Home in Bowling Green with Brother John Birkhead and Brother Alvin Young officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery near Bowling Green. Visitation will be 4:00– 8:00 p.m., Thursday, February 13, 2014 at the funeral home.

Lloyd was born August 17, 1934 the son of Malcom Teddy and Mabel Etta Darkens Henderson. On November 26, 1969 he married Barbara L. Armstrong in Troy who survives. Other survivors include son Chad Vernon Henderson and wife Mary Beth of Bowling Green; daughters Marilyn Sue Henderson of Locust Grove, VA, Kim McCallister of Bowling Green, Denise Grundman and husband Greg of Lakeville, MN; 11 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and sister Ruth M. Shy of Bowling Green. Preceding him in death were his parents; son Marvin Teddy Henderson; daughter Amanda R. Merino; grandson Bradley McCallister, son in law Tony McCallister and brother David L. Henderson.

He attended Mt Zion County School from grades one through 8, then went to Bowling Green High School. Following high school he rented farm ground and farmed until 1957 when he was drafted into the Armed Forces. He took basic training in Fort Polk, LA, Air Mechanic School in Fort Rucker, AL, then was transferred to Davison Army Air Field at Fort Belvoir, VA where he was honorably discharged on March 9, 1959. He then worked as a dozer operator and truck driver until 1965. Lloyd then joined Pipefitter’s Local 562 in 1963 and worked until his retirement in 1998. He purchased the family farm where he raised cattle until he sold it in 2010 and moved to Bowling Green. Lloyd enjoyed farming and spending time with family. He was a lifelong member of the Mt Zion Baptist Church and was a tireless worker for the Hope Center.

Serving as pallbearers will be Chad Henderson, John Coppock Jr, Cody McCallister, Michael Grundman, Drew Howell and Josh Tucker. Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Merino, Jr, Raymond Payne, Tom Branstetter, Paul Traynor, Bobby Sachs, Jerry Long and Darryl Kuntz.
