Geraldine (Geri) Mary Powell Anderson 1929 - 2007 Geri was born in Amsterdam, NY on December 4, 1929, the eldest daughter of Dewitt George and Barbara Ellen Powell. She married her soul mate Walter Anderson on February 24, 1952 at St Mary's Catholic Church in Amsterdam, NY. They moved to his home state of Texas in 1953 where they raised three children Jane, Walter Jr. and Robin. She is survived by her husband of 55 years Walter Anderson, sister Jane Battaglia and her husband Phil Battaglia, children: Jane Anderson Stephens, Walter Anderson Jr., his wife Kim Anderson, Robin Anderson Bailey and her husband James Bailey; eight grandchildren Courtney Anderson Dennis, Amy Stephens, Megan Anderson Hamer, Jennifer Stephens, Nicholas Pierce, Stephanie Pierce, Andrew Bailey, and Bradley Bailey; and three great-grandchildren Aiden Dennis, Koen Hamer and Kinleigh Stephens. Gerri lived for her family and enjoyed playing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She always viewed taking care of them as a joy and pleasure and never understood grandparents who did not want to take care of or spend time with their grandchildren. She was proud of her children and grandchildren and always braged about them to others. After her and Walter retired they enjoyed traveling by car so they could see more of the countryside. They traveled back to her home town enjoying stops in several states along the way. Their most notable trips were to New Mexico, Utah, Tennesee, and the Grand Canyon. They also enjoyed short trips to various small towns in Texas. She passed away on March 21, 2007 in Austin,TXafter a long illness. She was preceded in death by her father Dewitt George Powell, mother Barbara Ellen Hurley Powell, and sister Barbara Mussen. Visitation will be Friday March 23 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday March 24th at Palm Valley Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at Palm Valley Lutheran Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Andrew Bailey, Robert Mott, Nicholas Pierce, Kelly Hamer, Justin Nobles, and Royston Lanning.
