She was born August 26, 1932 to Sid and Effie (Bevins) Blackburn. The youngest of five children, she was a 1951 graduate of Williamson High School. She married Douglas Adkins on Dec 24, 1951. As a military wife she travelled with him to Virginia, Texas, North Carolina, Georgia, Hawaii, and Japan.
Survivors include her husband, Douglas Adkins Sr., and her 4 children, Douglas Jr, David Bruce, James Sidney, and Jane Elizabeth. In addition to her mother, she is survived by 4 siblings; Ovid (Alene) Blackburn of Long Island, NY., Billy (Madalyne) Blackburn of Logan, WV., Russell (Anna) Blackburn of Williamson, WV., and Lois (Steve) Szekely of Huntington, WV., and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Sid Blackburn, in 1957.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, July 14, 1962 at First Baptist Church of Forest Hills with burial immediately afterwards in Bent Ridge Cemetery, Meta, KY.
