CHATSWORTH -- The funeral of Roy Perkins, 82, of Chatsworth, will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Chatsworth United Methodist church, the Rev. Sharon Monroe officiating. Burial will be in Chatsworth Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Hagar Memorial Home, Chatsworth. He died March 20, 1996, at Dolly Vinsant Memorial Hospital, San Benito, Texas. Memorials may be made to the Chatsworth United Methodist church or a charity of the donor's choice.

Survivors include four sons: Randy, Forrest; Richard, Chatsworth; Ronald, Piper City; and Bobby, Davis; two sisters, Marietta Albee, Fairbury; and Myrtle Hamilton, Park Ridge; 14 grandchildren, one step grandchild and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, three brothers and two sisters.

He was born March 27, 1913, in Chatsworth, a son of Charles and Mary Wenger Perkins. He married Darlene Zander Nov. 25, 1943, in Chatsworth. She survives.
He was owner and operator of Perkins Electric Appliance for 50 years and also farmed 55 years before his retirement.
Mr. Perkins was an Army veteran of World War II and a 50-year member of the Walter Clemons American Legion Post No. 613. He was also a member of the Illinois Farm Bureau and was educated at the National Radio Institute of Chicago.
He was a member of the Chatsworth United Methodist Church.

Celebrate 50th Anniversary

CHATSWORTH -- Roy and Darlene Perkins of rural Chatsworth will celebrate their golden wedding anniversary Saturday with a family dinner.

Perkins and Darlene Zander were married Nov. 25, 1943, at Chatsworth Methodist Church. Vernon and Myrtle Hamilton were their attendants.

They are the parents of Ron of Piper City; Bob of Davis; and Rick and Randy, both of Chatsworth. A son, Don, is deceased. There are 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Perkins is retired from farming and from an electrical business, which he operated for 45 years.
