Wife of Charles R Hutcheson, who was a son of Ambrose Hutcheson (buried in this cemetery). They were my great great grandparents.

Written family history states:

During the Civil War, daughters Mollie, Anna, and Julia hid with their mother in the woods in the old "sow's lean-to shelter" while the Yankee soldiers destroyed their home, stole their horses, and butchered their cows. They dug a hole and hid some of their silverware (which was later used to fund their migration to Saline County, Arkansas. Mary took consumption and died near Greensboro, Georgia.

Mary died when her daughter Julia was three years old. Julia was born October 23, 1868. I have based her date of death on this information. They lived between Atlanta and Augusta in Greene County at the time of her death and was buried in an unmarked grave near their home.

The attached page is from the Rowland family Bible. "Mary Electer Ann (Lecteran) Kimbrough was born in the year of our lord July 23, 1840"

First Wife of Charles R Hutcheson (1833 – 1885)
Married in Greene County, Georgia on 23 Oct 1856

Mother of
Miss Anna Lou Hutcheson (1859 – 1923)
Mary Mollie Rachel Hutcheson Smith (1859 – 1943)
Charles Asbury Hutcheson (1864 – 1940)
Julia Irene Hutcheson Williamson (1868 – 1953)

The atached photos were in my grandmother's photo box. The photo in a frame has the inscription on the back "Grandma H Poppa's mother". The tintype has an attached note in my grandmother's handwritting: "Grandma Hutcheson - papa mother, which would be my great grandmother" (actually her grandmother)

My grandmother was Myra Lucy Hutcheson Adams (1906 – 1987), youngest daughter of Charles Asbury and Lydia Mabel "Belle" Wall Hutcheson, of Saline County, Arkansas. She was named after her Aunt Lucy Caroline Hutcheson Rowland.

The School pin is engraved on the back with M E Kimbrough. It is probably from the Masonic Female College in Covington, GA. Mary Electra was part of the first class of the college and was sponsored by her grandfather William Rowland. The pin has been passed down through her daughters to a great granddaughter, Sunshine Richards Spivey, who presently lives in Kerrville, Texas, and will probably be passed on to her daughter Susi Underwood Bell.

I have placed her memorial in this cemetery because this is where my great great great grandfather, Ambrose Hutcheson is buried.
