Mrs. Charles Erdman, 82, 1605 S. Willard Ave., a Janesville resident since 1934, died at 12:25 a.m. Tuesday in Rock County Hospital after eight years of failing health.
The former Mary Franz was born in Poland March 5, 1881. She was married to Gustave Stanke in Poland and they came to Harvard [IL] in 1921. He died Aug. 23, 1929. Mrs. Stanke and Charles Erdman were married in Rockford [IL] in 1934. He died July 4, 1946. Mrs. Erdman was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.
Surviving are two sons, Edward and Louis Stanke, both of Janesville; two daughters Mrs. Magdalena Brooks and Mrs. Wilmer Hamre, both of Janesville; nine grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
A daughter Wanda died in Poland and a son Herman in 1954. A brother Edward also predeceased her.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in St. John's Church, the Rev. Donald Docken officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Harvard [IL]. Friends may call at the Overton Funeral Home Wednesday evening from 7 to 9 and at the church from Thursday noon until the funeral hour.
