Arvid Richard Ahlene, 54, of 3119 Fifteenth St. C. Moline, died at 8:30 P.M. Monday at his residence following a lingering illness. He was born Mar. 10, 1887 in Moline, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Ahlene. He was reared and educated here and married Miss Agnes C. Cooper in Monmouth, Dec. 5, 1912.
For the past 25 years, Mr. Ahlene served as Chauffeur for Charles C. Wiman. He was also a member of Trinity Lutheran church.
Surviving are the widow, one son Richard, one daughter, Mrs. Margaret Schroeder, on brother, Martin, of Chicago, three sisters Mrs. Alice Van Wonterghem of Moline, Mrs. Mabel Swanson of Mount Peter, Iowa, and Mrs. Frank Jahraus of Laguna Beach, Calif. and two grandchildren.
The body was taken to the Wendt Funeral Home

Many years after his death, the Deere - Wiman foundation and the Rock Island Historical Society received several photos of Arvid and his son, Richard (who had also been a Chauffer for the family) from T.W. H. Thus solved the mystery of several photos already in their possession of a man they had nicknamed "Pigtail Arv" due to his hair style and only a name "Arv" on the back of the photo.
