William was the son of Green Berry and Carry R. (Reece) Tate of Mississippi, Monroe county. "Bill" was one of numerous children born to the Tate family. Commonly known as and referred to as "Uncle Dave". He was married to Aunt Willibell. Their marriage was blessed with several children. He was employed at one or more foundries in the Quad Cites. Dave worked at Sivyer Steel, in Bettendorf, and retired from there as well.

Dave left behind a large loving family. He died in April 17, 1993, in Bettendorf, Iowa. He is interned at the Rock Island National Cemetery in section P, site 1808. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
