John Long Jr., 57, of Phillipsburg, died on Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014 at Cox South Hospital in Springfield, MO.
He was born October 19, 1956, in Norfolk, VA, to John Long Sr. and Barbara Jean Kincaid
On June 20, 1980, he married Peggy Sue Adams.
He worked for the YMCA officiating games for youth.
He is preceded in death by a son, Jonathan Long; foster mother, Bernice Heafley; foster brothers, David Blackburn and Larry Heafley; and nephew, Joah Greene.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy Long of Phillipsburg; two daughters, Samantha Long and Cindy Smothers and husband Jason, of Lebanon; his father, John Long Sr. of Lebanon; two sisters, Jeannie Dismang and husband Rick and Juanita Sperry of Conway; two brothers, Kenny Long and wife Melissa of Lebanon and Bob Butts of Springfield as well as other relative and many friends.
A memorial service for John Long Jr., was held from 1 to 4 p.m., on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014, at the Washington Christian Church in Lebanon.
