The gloom of Death has of late been casting upon our community and especially upon the Academy, still deepens. Two weeks since we gathered around the bier of Prof. J.D. Houghton, who for many years was the model Principal of the Institution, and now Dr. A. Sidney Houghton, the worthy
President of its Board of Trustees, is taken from us , he also being in the midst of his days of usefulness. When men like these devoted to the good of those among whom they dwell are taken away all hearts beating in sympathy with their work must cry out.
