I cannot imagine one family having more than one child with the same name. I think John born 11 Apr 1827 must have died between 1827-1835.
Williams' father George was born Berwickshire, Scotland in 1781. His occupation was millwright, and engineer. Because of ill health he went to working a farm, he died in 1840. Buried in a church yard at Duns, Scotland.
About 1850, found this little family sailing for Canada. They landed at Montreal, Canada. They purchased land at the village of St.Louis de Gonzague in Beauharnois County, Provience of Quebec, Canada. They stayed approxmately eight years; then selling the farm to the oldest son,(James).
The four brothers and their mother worked on a farm in Haulton County, Canada. They stayed at this location for about two years.
Then the little family moved (about 1860) to Huron County, Michigan. Started farming in this wilderness where only lumber trails were used for roads.
William was drafted; his description at this time was (age 33, height 5'9", blue eyes, light hair) into the Union Army on 29 Sep 1864 and was assigned to 15th Vol., Inf., Michigan Company "F". On 13 Aug 1865 in Little Rock, Arkansas William was discharged from the Army. He went home to Michigan to start farming again, live his life in peace.
William married Mary Ann McPherson on 27 Sep 1867.I haven't any records if they had any children, I'll enter them if get some. Mary Ann died 24 April 1917. William died 08 Oct 1909.
