He received his education in the Franklin and Tranquil schools in Brown and Nemaha counties.
In early manhood he took up farming in Nemaha and Brown counties which he continued until semi-retirement. He was active until two years ago when his health began to fail.
He was married to Miss Sarah Ann Schlupp April 19, 1904, at Seneca, Kas. To this union was born three children who survive, one daughter, Mrs. Helen Tingley, Albuquerque, New Mexico; two sons: Harold J. Kyle, Auburn, Neb., Virgil J. Kyle, Philadelphia, Pa.; two grandchildren: Miss Patsy Ann Kyle, Omaha, Neb.; and Robert W. Kyle, Cheney, Wash. He is also survived by two sisters: Mrs. Mary Funkhouser, Manhattan, Kas.; and Mrs. Bertha Turner, Sabetha, Kas. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah, and six brothers. Also nieces, nephews, and a host of friends and neighbors survive.
Memorial services were held in the Popkess Chapel Oct. 19, 1962 at 2 p.m. conducted by Rev. Kenneth Martin. Soloist: Richard McKim, who sang favorite hymns. Organist, Mrs. W. R. Popkess.
Casket bearers were Lester Noble, Everett Noble, Wilbur Kyle, Dale Kyle, Andrew Rokey and Walter Kyle.
Interment in Sabetha cemetery.
