CRESWELL - A memorial service will be held Oct. 26 for Delbert Anderson Sr. of Creswell, who died Oct. 23 of a heart attack. He was 69.
Anderson was born Oct. 8, 1936, in Oakridge, to Julius and Lila Martin Anderson. He married Vera Williams on Oct. 1, 1981, in Reno, Nev.
He lived in Creswell for 14 years and previously lived in Cottage Grove and Oakridge. He worked as a tree faller in redwood forests in Northern California. His family said he and his brother had been called to help whenever there was a difficult tree-falling job. He enjoyed getting his winter firewood, fixing things, gardening, trees and flowers.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Diana Anderson, Linda Lane and Virginia Anderson, all of Medford; a son, Matthew Quinnell of Medford; four stepsons, Michael, Larry, Dave and Bill, all of Redding, Calif.; a stepdaughter, Audrey Schmidt of Creswell; a brother, John Anderson of Ferndale, Idaho; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. A son, Delbert Anderson Jr., died in March 2005.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday at Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel in Cottage Grove.
Wednesday's service will be held at 2 p.m. at the Anderson family home in Creswell.
