the Carrol Free Press, Carrollton, Ohio, Wednesday, December 16, 1891.

Death of Samuel Rutan, Treasurer Rutan received a telegram last Wednesday, announcing the death of his brother, Samuel M. Rutan, at Vance Junction, Colorado. The news was a great surprise to Mr. Rutan's friends in this place, as no previous information of his illness had been received. Mr. Rutan was born in Perry Township, and was a resident of the county the greater part of his life, and during part of that period was in the mercantile business at Harlem and Carrollton. For several years he has been engaged in the mining business at Ophir, Colorado. Aged 51. His only son, aged mother, and brothers and sisters have the sympathy of the entire community. The body is expected to reach here to-morrow for burial.

Information researched by Richard Paul Culler of Carrollton, Ohio.
