Rutan--Mrs. Josie Rutan, wife of Samuel M. Rutan, died of paralysis at the home of her brother Dr. Cantwell in Davenport, Iowa, on Tuesday November 22, 1887, aged 48 years. Her remains were Brought to Kenton, Hardin County, Ohio, last Thursday for burial, where her Carrollton relatives were summoned to attend the funeral. She leaves a husband and two sons, James, aged 13 and Wallace, age 7. The deceased was well and favorably known in this place a few years ago, when her husband was engaged in the mercantile business under the firm name of Rutan & Rukenbrod. After leaving here, she accompanied her husband to the mining regions of Colorado, but last spring on account of failing health she was taken to a hospital in Davenport, Iowa, where her brother is physician, at which place she died; her death being preceded by a third stroke of paralysis.
