Mr. Arney went to his eternal rest Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014. He passed away peacefully at home after an extended illness.
He was born May 28, 1928, in Glasgow, Ky., to the late Erwin and Carrie Conners Arney.
Mr. Arney, his son, Johnny Ray Arney and nephew, Dannie Dishman owned and operated Cookeville Trailer Repair. Mr. Arney retired in 1992 from the Cookeville Trailer. He worked for Bangham Collection site and A&H Systems.
Mr. Arney and Joyce Dishman were married for 33 years and had three children, Johnny Ray, Sue and Judy. Joyce passed away in 1978. In 1981, Johnny married Ruth Copeland Dyer and inherited her two daughters, Cheryl and Lisa Dyer.
His family includes his wife, Ruth Arney of Cookeville; a son and daughter-in-law, Johnny Ray and Thelma Arney of Livingston; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Judy and Steve Freels of Nashville, Sue Arney of Cookeville, Cheryl Dyer and Mike Case of Colorado, and Lisa Dyer and Rick Fry of Unionville; two sisters, Mae Lucas of Louisville, Ky., and Dean Love of Lawrenceburg; nine grandchildren, Johnny Dewayne Arney, Jeffrey Dale Arney, Amanda, Nick, Becki and Sam Case, Cecilia King Millard, Sheila Nash and Nary Lawson; 20 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and his beloved dog, Skipper.
Mr. Arney was preceded in death by his first wife, Joyce Dishman Arney; his father and step-mother; his mother and step-father; and a brother, Edward Arney.
Bro. Harold Walker will officiate the services.
