Ray B. Heckwine, 79, of Taylorville died on January 8, 2014, in his home. He was formerly from Mount Auburn.
He was born in Mount Auburn on July 9, 1934, the son of Bennett and Buelah Linn Heckwine. He worked as a vertical lathe operator and retired after thirty years with Caterpillar, Inc. He was a member of the Local UAW #751.
He is survived by his sister, Kathleen Lybarger of Illiopolis; and a brother, Gale Heckwine (Marilyn) of Jesup, Georgia and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Cleo Heckwine and Zelma McDonald. Also a brother, Norris Heckwine.
Visitation will be on Monday, January 13, 2014 from 5 to 7 pm at the Fullenwider-Park Funeral Home in Illiopolis. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at the funeral home at 1 pm with the Reverend Melissa Ebken officiating and burial will be make at Mount Auburn Cemetery.
