HARDIN - Flora Landon Clark, 92, of Hardin, passed away Nov. 5, 2009, in the Big Horn County Memorial Hospital.
Born July 25, 1917, in Roundup, Flora's parents were Oscar and Minnie Kilcher Landon. At the age of 3 months, the family moved to a homestead on Sarpy Creek, where she grew up and attended the Wolf Creek School. She later completed her education at Hardin High School and the Eastern Montana College in Billings.
Becoming a teacher in a one-room school on Sarpy Creek, she met Francis "Ted" Clark and they married on April 15, 1939, making their home on the Clark ranch for 17 years. When Ted died, Flora and her son Ron moved to Colstrip, where she resumed teaching, later moving to Harlowton, where she completed 25 years of teaching first grade. She retired in 1982 and returned to Hardin to care for her mother.
She loved local history, crocheting, growing flowers, sewing and traveling to Seattle to see her children and grandchildren. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Big Horn County Historical Museum.
Her husband Ted, son Ronald, sisters Marcella Eastman, Joyce Hager and Lois Landon preceded Flora in death.
Survivors include her sisters, Donna (Henry) Esp and Lucile (Howard) Love; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; her daughter-in-law, Rose Clark; plus numerous loving nieces and nephews, all who loved Flora deeply. Flora will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 9, in the Bullis Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery. Bullis Mortuary has been entrusted with the arrangements. Should friends desire, donations can be sent to the Big Horn County Historical Museum.
