The given name Walter is in question.

Entry in Sexton's card file for Riverdale Cemetery: Walter CAIN, male, died aged 70 years of Brights Disease (= nephritis) at 810 First Avenue, Cols., Ga.; interred 5-25-1912 in Section (Jewish), north half of Lot 131 52 [newspaper states he was placed in a pauper's grave]. [Note: it appears that the death place and location given for the grave (north half of Lot 131 in Section 2 (Jewish) was written on the wrong line and intended to go with the following burial entry, which is the last one for the month, Mrs. Estella GERSHON (aged 40 years) on 30 MAY 1912. It seems the location of Walter CAIN's grave was then written in above this, and difficult to read: "________ _________ Lot 52." William CAIN's place of death and residence status are evidently omitted.

Said to be a Confederate veteran.

According to the street index of the R. L. Polk's 1912 city directory for Columbus, Georgia, p. 38, 810 First Avenue was owned by Julius GERSON. P. 203 shows:
GERSON, Julius (wife Estelle), tailor for Philip HASKELL, homeowner 810 1st av.

The same, p. 124, shows Wm. O. CAIN (wife Lula E.), a householder at 1202 Broad Street in Girard, AL, and a trader.
