Mrs. Thomas Dead
Succumbs to Injuries Received When Hit By Street Car

Mrs. Elizabeth Thomas, wife of Pte. C. Thomas of the 65th battalion, whose home is 492 Beverley street, died at the General hospital yesterday afternoon from the effects of injuries received on Sunday night last.

Mrs. Thomas was a member of the St. James corps of the Salvation Army, and she was on her way home from the evening service when, at the corner of Arlington street and Portage avenue, she was struck by a street car, receiving the injuries which proved fatal.  She was in the 48th year of her age.
Mother of Fighting Family

Mrs. Thomas was born in Lucknow, India, but her parents moved to Halifax, N.S., when she was a girl.  She resided at that city until about seven years ago, when with her husband and family she moved to Prince Albert.  There the family resided until about a year ago.  At the outbreak of the war he husband and three sons enlisted for active service and one of the latter, Walter, was killed August 22 last in action in France.  She is also survived by one son and three daughters at home.  Her husband is also at home, having recently returned form England.

Dr. McConnell, provincial coroner stated last night that in all probability an inquest would be held.  The funeral arrangements will not be made until the decision as to the inquiry has been reached.  The body in the meantime is at Thomson's undertaking rooms, and it is likely that the Salvation Army will have the funeral service in hand.
