Robert was the son of Frank Earl McCall (1887-1977) and Aretha Elizabeth (Evans) McCall (1893-1974) He began high school at Labette County High School, Altamont, Kansas, and graduated from Rupert High School in Minidoka Co., Idaho. After high school, he farmed with his father and brother near Paul in Minidoka County.
Robert was inducted into the US Navy in 1944, trained at Gulfport Mississippi as an Electrician's Mate, then was sent to Shoemaker, California (near San Diego). From there, he served aboard the USS Shipley Bay in the Pacific. After discharge in 1946, he returned to Minidoka Co. and farmed with his father.
In the 1950s he moved to Franklin Co., WA and farmed north of Pasco on the newly opened Columbia Basin. He also managed a grain elevator at Eltopia.
Robert married Imogene Beck on 2 Feb 1974.
Both Robert and Imogene were killed in an automobile accident north of Pasco.
