Loleta A. Hofschild, 93, 947 County Road D, Nekoosa, died Tuesday morning, November 2, 2010, at Riverview Hospital in Wisconsin Rapids.

Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 6, 2010, at St. John Lutheran Church in Kellner. Rev. Kevin Ader will officiate. Burial will be in St. John Lutheran Church Cemetery.

Loleta was born July 31, 1917, to Theodore and Alvina (Kreuger) Kleist, in Almond, Wis. She married Winston Judd. They divorced, later she married Gilbert W. Hofschild on October 28, 1967.

For most of her working career, she worked at Bancroft State Bank and retired from there.

Loleta enjoyed spending winters in her Texas home and summers at her home on Lake Camelot. She loved golfing, playing cards, and going to the cottage. She liked to fish and boat. Loleta also especially enjoyed traveling and spending time with her husband, children, and grandchildren. She was a loving wife and devout Christian lady.

She was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church in Kellner. She belonged to the Almond American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. Years ago, she belonged to the Bancroft 4-H club. Loleta also directed two different plays for the Bancroft Grade School PTA. She was a very creative costume designer and also enjoyed designing clothing for her family.

Loleta is survived by her husband, Gilbert Smokey, daughter, Susan (Dale) Sonnenberg of Oshkosh, WI, son, James (Jill) Judd of Plover, WI, step-daughter, Sharon Hofschild of Phoenix, AZ, grandchildren: Dawn (Marty) Sonnenberg-Crean, Renae (David) Easley, Jennifer Sonnenberg, Jamie (Scott) Judd-Hammon, Jordan (Brad) Holtmeier, and great-grandchild, Holly Jill Hammon.

Friends may call at St. John Lutheran Church in Kellner from 10:00 a.m. until time of services on Saturday.Taylor, Vollert and Jennings Funeral Home is assisting the family.
