Mrs. Walter (Bardine) Kappell, age 77, passed away Monday at the Extended Care Center, Appleton, following a long illness. She was born in Kaukauna, May 4, 1892, and lived here all her life. She and her husband, Walter, operated a tavern in this city for over 40 years.
She was a member of St. Mary's Altar Society, the Auxiliary of the Women of the Moose, the Golden Agers, VFW Auxiliary No. 3319, and the American Legion Auxiliary, Post 41.
She is survived by one daughter; Mrs. Eugene (Bernice) Peeters, Little Chute; four sons, Sylvester, Lawrence, Leo and Clifford, all of Kaukauna. She is also survived by 30 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; five sisters: Mrs. Ann Peters and Mrs. Elizabeth Nagel, Kaukauna; Mrs. Herbert (Helen) Siegworth, Appleton; Mrs. Dorothy Kilgas, Brillion; and Mrs. Francis Lorrig, De Pere.
Funeral services are being held at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with Rev. Charles Fredericks officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Greenwood Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
