A chapel funeral service, celebrating his life, will be conducted 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 10, Hanes Lineberry Funeral Home, Sedgefield Chapel, 6000 High Point Road (854-9100) with Pastor Ben Hurley, formerly Spring Gardens Friends Meeting, officiating. Burial will follow in Guilford Memorial Park with full Military Honors.
H.A. was a very private, quite but giving person, who has a host of friends and family that respects him and loves him. He has over come so many obstacles in his life and has done it with great pride.
On July 21, 1932 Henry Alford Hoover, Jr. was the first child born to Henry and Lola Hoover of Hillsboro. He was raised in Greensboro at the Battleground area.
Mr. Hoover was employed by Associated Mechanical Contractors close to 20 years and Carolina Byproduct. He was a member of Spring Garden Friends Meeting; a long time member of AA; and the Lions Club, participating in the Eye Donation Program at his death.
He has a brother, Raymond Hoover and his wife, Shirley of Liberty, N.C.; a sister. Jackie Sykes and deceased husband, Harold of Thomasville.
Survived are his only daughter, Cindy Hoover Idol and a son in-law, Gary, whom he loved as a son from the first time he meet him; two grandsons, Derek Idol of Rock Island, Ill., and Jason Idol of Clefts, N.C. His nieces and nephews on this immediate family, Cathy Overheard, Michael Sykes, Julie Hamilton, Tim Hoover, Kim Williams, Jim Hoover and the Hohn side of the family, Judy, Kay, Keith, Von William, Twinkle, Von Max, and Terry.
H.A. had two sons, David Wayne Hoover and Robert Alan Hoover that predeceased him by a previous marriage with Catherine Hoover of Greensboro. And a son, Michael Lindley Hoover, Cindy's twin that predeceased him by his deceased wife, Ruby. He was also predeceased by Juana Hoover, sister in-law wife of Raymond Hoover, and nieces and nephews, Kenneth Hennis, David Hohn, Raven Briggs, Lisa Hohn White.
