EMILY R. LAWTON
Verona, April 27, -- Mrs. Emily R. Lawton, an aged and respected resident of this village, died yesterday, aged 85. Mrs. Lawton was born in the town of Verona Jan 11, 1815, and had always been a resident here. She was converted and joined the Presbyterian church of this village at the age of 16 and was the oldest member of the church at her death. She was twice married. Her first husband, Oliver W. Blair, died in 1874. She then married Alfred R. Lawton of Hartford, Conn., who died twelve years ago. The only surviving member of her family is a stepdaughter, Mrs. Etta Emmons of Granby Conn., who cared for her during her sickness and at her death. Mrs. Lawton was known as a lady of high Christian character and was an earnest worker in and a generous contributor to the church of the town and village, She lived the faith she professed -- that of a Christian.

The funeral services of Mrs. Emily Lawton were held at her late residence on Saturday afternoon, her pastor, Rev. F.
W. West, officiating. Interment was made in Verona Cemetery.
