After a long and painful illness, Miss Minnie Whiteside died at the home of her sister, Mrs. W. C. Cott, 2569 Harney street, on last Thursday afternoon. For some months previous to her death, Miss Whiteside suffered unspeakable pain from a cancer of the stomach, and up to the very last she bore her intense suffering with the greatest patience and resignation. Funeral services were held from St. Peter's church Saturday morning at 9 o'clock. Requiem High Mass was celebrated by Father Stenson, who attended to the spiritual needs of the deceased during her long illness. After the celebration of Mass Father Stenson delivered the funeral sermon in which he made touching reference to the high ideals Miss Whiteside had set before her during her life and to which she was scrupulously true up to the tiime she breathed forth her pure soul in peace with God her neighbor and herself. Fathers Barrett and Buckley assisted in the sanctuary during the services. Interment took place at the Holy Sepulchre cemetery. A large congregation attended her funeral obsequies and the numerous expressions of sincere sympathy that were heard on all sides were sufficient evidence of the very high esteem in which the deceased lady was held.
