Ella Chitty Whitmore, nee Helder, was born in Freeport, Ill., January 24, 1864 and passed away at the home of her son in the same city June 26, 1934. Aged 70 years, 5 months and 2 days. She has lived in this community almost all her life. March 5, 1885 she was united in marriage with Robert Chitty. To this union one son was born. Her husband preceded her in death January 5, 1890. May 8, 1896 she was married to G. W. Whitmore who passed August 30, 1928. She has been a faithful member of the Bethel church for many years. She will be greatly missed by her neighbors and friends in this vicinity. She leaves to mourn her departure, her son, Arthur of Freeport; one brother, Calvin Helder of Inwood, Iowa; and three sisters, Mrs. Francis Wright of Nebraska, Mrs. Ada Beck of So. Dakota and Mrs. Carry Pellett of Lawrence, Kansas; also two grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. Her hope was in the living Christ and we are confident that she entered into the glorious experience anticipated by the poet who said: "Some day face to face I shall see Him, And oh what a joy it will be To know that His love, now so precious, Will forever grow dearer to me." The funeral services wee held Thursday afternoon, June 28, at 2:00 from the late home and 2:30 at the Bethel Church.
