Bertha was born January 28, 1933 in her home place on a Naked Creek Farm in Rockingham County to her late parents, Benjamin and Mabel Seal.
She is survived by one daughter, Lori Atkins and husband Shane of Shenandoah; two grandsons, Brandon S. Hensley and Bryston A. Atkins; three brothers, Raymond, William and Earman Seal all of Shenandoah. She was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Owen Seal, three sisters, Margaret McCoy, Eva Davis, and Barbara Seal.
Bertha graduated from Shenandoah High School in 1951. She recently retired in 2012 after forty-four years of service to Sullivan Mechanical in Shenandoah, VA as their bookkeeper.
Her life was devoted to her work and her family. She loved and rarely missed any sports events her grandsons participated in. She had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh. She loved to read, cook, do word searches and attend hymn sings. She enjoyed talking and spending time with her special friends and neighbors. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, friend and neighbor to many.
A private memorial will be held. Family and friends feel welcome to call or visit the Atkins residence at 1131 Fleeburg Loop in Shenandoah, phone number 652-2011.
